At Happy Hands OT, our mission is to empower children to achieve their fullest potential through goal specific and evidence-based therapy. We are committed to nurturing growth and independence, by creating a supportive environment where every child can thrive. Together, we celebrate each milestone, helping little hands accomplish big dreams.
What is Occupational Therapy?
Paediatric occupational therapy is a specialised area of therapy that focuses on helping children develop the skills needed for daily living and participation in activities, both at home and in kindergarten or school. Paediatric OT's focus on key areas such as self-care skills (e.g., dressing, grooming, feeding), fine and gross motor skills and play skills, all of which are crucial for a child's overall development and ability to engage in everyday tasks. At Happy Hands, we work with children who may have physical, cognitive, or developmental challenges. We use various activities and interventions tailored to each child's unique needs, often incorporated through play to make the learning process enjoyable.
We are able to provide therapy and support in the following areas:
- Goal directed therapy
- Bimanual upper limb therapy
- Modified constraint-induced movement therapy
- Self-care assessments
- Fine motor and handwriting skills
- Kinder and school readiness
- Equipment prescription
What will happen in the first session?
At Happy Hands OT, we recognise that every child is unique and has their own individual challenges and goals. An initial assessment will be completed at your home, or your child's school, kindergarten or childcare, where a treatment plan will then be determined based on your child and family goals, as well as outcomes from the OT assessment. Subsequent therapy sessions will then be scheduled and delivered as required once a therapy plan is in place.
